The execution case
Idaho’s execution team tried access sites in Creech’s arms, legs, hands and feet. After about 58 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, the warden halted the execution and Creech was returned to his cell.

Thomas Creech survived the attempt after the execution team failed eight times to place a functioning IV. That outcome places the case in the same historical network as other American execution failures, including Romell Broom, Doyle Hamm, Clayton Lockett, Joseph Wood, Willie Francis and, in 2026, Christa Pike.
