Zoran Jakšić

Zoran Jakšić is one of the most important operational figures in Group America and one of the network’s clearest bridges to South American cocaine trafficking. Unlike many names in the group’s 1990s mythology, Jakšić has a substantial record of drug convictions that can be described without relying on rumor.

From New York to Group America

OCCRP places Jakšić alongside Mileta Miljanić in the earlier New York circle around Boško Radonjić. Later, investigators described Miljanić as the strategic promoter of Group America and Jakšić as a key operational organizer. The pair helped build a network able to work across Europe and South America.

Peru and cocaine trafficking

Jakšić was repeatedly prosecuted for drug offenses in multiple jurisdictions. The strongest current status comes from Peru. In 2017 a Peruvian court sentenced him to 20 years in a cocaine case. A separate prosecution, the Las Golondrinas case, concerned an 800-kilogram cocaine shipment seized in 2016.

In February 2021, Peru’s national organized-crime court sentenced Jakšić to 25 years in prison as a co-author of drug trafficking in that case. The court stated that the 25-year term would begin after completion of the earlier sentence. the archive does not arithmetically convert those judgments into a fictional “45-year sentence”; the status bar shows the controlling 25-year Las Golondrinas sentence and explains the earlier 20-year judgment separately.

Why his profile matters

Jakšić gives the Group America cluster a hard judicial backbone. His record allows the site to connect the Balkan network to Peru, maritime cocaine routes, international fugitive history and South American logistics without depending on unresolved homicide allegations.
