Steven Ovaldino Lorenzana Alvarenga, known as “Chipi,” represents a later generation of the Lorenzana drug trafficking organization and is one of the most useful current-era connectors in the the archive Latin America graph. His 2025 extradition case expands the older Lorenzana route beyond Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico by explicitly naming Venezuela, Honduras and multiple cartel relationships.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced in June 2025 that Lorenzana Alvarenga had been extradited from Guatemala to the United States alongside Allan Mendoza, known as “Carnes” and “Carnitas.” Both men were charged with conspiracy to import five kilograms or more of cocaine into the United States and with possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

According to federal court documents summarized by the Justice Department, Lorenzana Alvarenga and Mendoza were key members of the Lorenzana DTO from approximately 2006 through 2023. Prosecutors allege that the organization transported multi-ton quantities of cocaine from South America into Mexico and the United States on behalf of various Mexican, Honduran and Venezuelan cartels.

That language is extremely important for the the archive network. Earlier Lorenzana cases establish Colombia as a major source and Sinaloa as a documented Mexican partner. The 2025 case adds an explicit Venezuelan-cartel dimension and also confirms that the organization worked on behalf of multiple Honduran and Mexican criminal groups. Because the press release does not name every cartel, the archive should create a Venezuela cartel-network theme node without inventing specific organization names.

The case also provides another multigenerational connection. Lorenzana Alvarenga belongs to the wider family-based Lorenzana organization that previously included Waldemar Lorenzana Lima, Eliu Elixander Lorenzana-Cordon, Waldemar Lorenzana-Cordon and Marta Julia Lorenzana-Cordon. His appearance in a conspiracy alleged to continue through 2023 demonstrates the longevity of the organization well beyond the prosecutions of the older generation.

At the time of the June 2025 Justice Department announcement, Lorenzana Alvarenga had been extradited and was facing charges in the District of Columbia. Those charges remain allegations unless established by conviction or plea. the archive should therefore distinguish his procedural status from the completed cases of relatives who have already received major sentences.

Within the graph, Lorenzana Alvarenga should link to the Lorenzana DTO, the Colombia Cocaine Source Network, a new Venezuela Cocaine/Cartel Source Network theme node, the Central America Cocaine Transit Network and the new 2025 Lorenzana prosecution. His co-defendant Allan Mendoza should become a canonical person in the next batch or immediately when sufficient article material is prepared.

The profile’s greatest value is that it pushes the Lorenzana network south and east without speculation. Venezuela is now present because a current federal case explicitly names Venezuelan cartels as counterparties. Honduras also enters through the same source. That gives the archive a source-backed foundation for future expansion into Venezuelan trafficking groups and for identifying which Honduran organizations worked with the later Lorenzana network.

Lorenzana Alvarenga therefore acts as a bridge between generations and regions: old Guatemala family infrastructure, modern multinational cartel clients, Colombian and Venezuelan supply-side geography, Honduras as a partner environment and the continued movement of cocaine toward Mexico and the United States.
