Sreten Jocić

Serbian organized-crime figure serving a 15-year sentence in a separate murder-incitement case; finally acquitted in 2015 of organizing the Pukanić assassination.

Sreten Jocić, widely known as Joca Amsterdam, belongs to the international layer of the Balkan organized-crime graph. His legal history must be presented with particular precision because two very different outcomes are often conflated: he is serving a fifteen-year sentence in a separate murder-incitement case, but he was finally acquitted of organizing the 2008 assassination of Ivo Pukanić.

Fifteen-year sentence

Jocić was previously convicted and sentenced to fifteen years for inciting the 1995 murder of Goran Marjanović. That is the controlling custodial sentence shown in the profile status bar.

Pukanić prosecution

Serbian prosecutors accused Jocić of organizing the Pukanić assassination. The first-instance court acquitted him for lack of sufficient evidence, and the Belgrade Court of Appeal made that acquittal final in 2015.

Why the distinction is essential

the archive must not imply that Jocić was convicted in the Pukanić case. His page can and should link to the assassination because he was prosecuted in it, but the relationship type is acquitted_in, not convicted_in or organizer_of.

Cross-border graph

The case nevertheless connects his page to Željko Milovanović, Robert and Luka Matanić, Amir Mafalani, Bojan Gudurić and Slobodan Đurović. The graph can show that shared prosecution history while preserving the different final outcomes.
