Luka Pejović occupies a difficult place in the history of the Slavko Ćuruvija investigation. Years after the journalist’s murder, investigative reporting said that a witness had identified Pejović as a possible gunman. Pejović had already been killed in December 2000. He was never tried or convicted for Ćuruvija’s murder, and that distinction is essential.
Reported witness identification
B92’s investigative archive reported that a witness had identified Pejović from photographs and that a written statement existed within the Interior Ministry. This is a reported investigative lead, not a judicial finding.
Death in 2000
Pejović was killed in Belgrade on 3 December 2000. His death meant the reported allegation could never be tested in a criminal trial against him.
Later Ćuruvija case
The eventual Ćuruvija prosecution focused on former State Security officials. The final 2024 judgment acquitted the four defendants. It did not establish Pejović’s guilt.
Editorial treatment
the archive keeps Pejović as a contextual, linked-only profile. The legal-status field explicitly records that there is no conviction in the linked case, and the relationship is labeled as a witness claim rather than fact.
