Bojan Petrović was one of the recognizable voices of the Belgrade underworld captured in the documentary Vidimo se u čitulji (See You in the Obituary). His criminal history stretched back into the 1980s, and he was convicted in connection with the 1985 killing of Ranko Rubežić, an event often described as a turning point in Belgrade gang violence. Petrović was himself shot to death in central Belgrade in February 1998.
The older Voždovac generation
Petrović belonged to the generation immediately before the young criminals who became famous during the sanctions years. He moved in the Voždovac milieu around men such as Boris Petkov, Đorđe Božović Giška and Goran Vuković. This network connected domestic street crews to Yugoslav criminals operating in Western Europe.
The precise boundaries of a “Voždovac clan” changed over time. It is better understood as a dense social and criminal network than as a permanently structured organization.
Ranko Rubežić murder
Ranko Rubežić was killed in an ambush in February 1985. Later court cases resulted in convictions of men associated with the attack. Sources summarizing the case identify Bojan Petrović and Boris Petkov among those convicted, while Dragan Popović “Dadilja” and Miroslav Vujisić “Vuja” received longer sentences.
The murder has often been presented as an early example of the planned ambush style that later became common in Belgrade. Whether or not it was truly the “first” such killing, it clearly belongs to the prehistory of the 1990s assassination culture.
See You in the Obituary
Petrović later appeared in See You in the Obituary, where he discussed criminal life with a degree of self-awareness uncommon in later mythologized retellings. The documentary became a historical artifact because so many participants or subjects died violently.
Film Center Serbia's material for the 2026 follow-up See You at the Obituary 2.0 again places Petrović among the central life stories being revisited, confirming his importance to the documentary record of the era.
Murder in 1998
Shortly after midnight on 28 February 1998, Petrović was in a Jaguar stopped near the intersection of Brankova and Carice Milice streets in central Belgrade. Attackers approached in another vehicle and opened fire with automatic weapons. Petrović and Zoran Bogdanović “Kepa” were killed.
The murder fit a pattern already familiar by that point: coordinated attackers, automatic weapons, a fast escape and no publicly resolved judicial conclusion. Petrović was thirty-six.
Why he matters
Petrović's page provides a clean historical bridge from the Rubežić murder of 1985 to the documentary culture of the early 1990s and finally to the assassination wave of the late 1990s. He should therefore be linked not only to people but to events and media entities.

Source record
The Master package currently attaches these sources to the profile: – See You at the Obituary 2.0 — Film Center Serbia, Tier 1. – Ranko Rubežić — Wikipedia, Tier 3. – Bojan Petrović — Vidimo se u čitulji archive, Tier 4.
Claim-level source references remain in the structured data so later audits can trace evidence rather than relying on a generic bibliography.
Evidence and editorial boundaries
For living subjects especially, legal status and allegations require dated evidence. Future expansion should come from stronger records, court material, archives or newly processed canonical entities rather than generalized crime lore.
How this profile fits the archive
The source package currently includes See You at the Obituary 2.0; Ranko Rubežić; Bojan Petrović. Those records define the safe editorial boundary for this version of the page. Unknown dates and unresolved associations remain explicit because a missing fact is a research task, not permission to speculate.
Research state
This depth pass expands the page from structured evidence already present in the Master. The next meaningful improvement should be a stronger primary source, a dated event, a verified legal-status change, a prison record, or a newly processed Book, Screen or Organization entity that creates a legitimate reverse link.
Media remains a separate completion gate. A portrait should be attached only after source page, provenance and reuse status are checked. Until then, text can be complete while media remains pending.
Archive discipline
A stable canonical Person page remains useful even when some biography is unresolved. It prevents duplicate identities and gives future cases, organizations, events, books and screen works one consistent target. Depth should come from verified edges and source-backed chronology, not filler.
Evidence notes already stored
– convicted in killing of relationship recorded in profile research. – associate relationship recorded in profile research.
These notes remain leads for future research and are not expanded beyond their current evidentiary wording.
